4 Reasons To Believe Man City's Rodri Will Be The Fucking Master Of The Universe Next Season

I know, I know... It has been official for a while and everyone should know this already (if not, haven't you seen the title? IT'S JUST UP THERE, YOU I****!): Rodri, Atletico Madrid's most promising midfielder, has gone to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, after the Citizens bought him this week from his £63 million clause. £63 MILLION!? HOLY S***! WHAT A BARGAIN!

That's right! Guardiola, one of the best managers in the world, has finally completed his team with the only position he needed to reinforce, the midfield. Clearly, the Spanish 23-year old is a great signing, and, probably, Barcelona is crying right now, after there were rumors placing him in the 'blaugrana' radar. Sorry, guys!

Rodri will join Guardiola and his new teammates next season, and that's why I want to give 5 "good f*****" reasons to believe the Spaniard will become the fucking master of the universe in the Premier League next season.

4. The Young King of The Midfield & A Tactical Mastermind

Since he appeared on the spotlight, Rodri has clearly become one of the most promising midfielders in world football. The former Villarreal and Atletico man knows exactly where to be and when to be in each moment. Clearly one of his greatest virtues on the pitch.

A tactical and defensive midfielder, who never loses position, who can make passes with great intelligence to his teammates, who can play at top level for the full 90 minutes, and a player who has a great ability to anticipate and cut any dangerous attacks from the most formidable opposition.

3. Fernandinho? Who's that!?

YEP! This is the main reason why Guardiola has signed the 23 year old youngster: Fernandinho is getting old! Sorry, man, but, it's the truth!

Since signing for Manchester City in 2013, Fernandinho has proven to be a fantastic defensive midfielder at the club, specially under Pep Guardiola, where he has become a fundamental player for the side. The Brazilian has been acting largely as City’s defensive shield, allowing Kevin de Bruyne and Bernardo Silva to produce the magic further up the field.

The "CDM" position (Stands for CD Maker... JK! Center Defensive Midfielder, ok?) has always been a key part on Guardiola’s sides and his playing style. At Barcelona, Sergio Busquets... At Bayern, Phillip Lahm... And at City, Fernandinho. However, the Brazilian ia already 34 years old (HOLY S***! HE'S AN OLD GEEZER!) and that's why it is time for Rodri to step up and make the role his.

Guardiola has attempted to use Ilkay Gündogan... Don't even think about it!

Rodri would practically be a ready-made replacement for the Brazilian, and his young age, just 23, makes him the ideal candidate for the defensive spot as he could probably spend at least one season as Fernandinho’s understudy.

2. Sergio Busquets? Is that you?

Phillip Lahm, Fernandinho... Both great defensive midfielders, who have played outstandingly under Guardiola at Bayern and Manchester City respectively. However, no one has been as good as FC Barcelona's Sergio Busquets. The guy is literally a rock (Sorry, Dwayne!).

Busquets was brought into Barcelona’s first team by Guardiola back in 2008/09 season, and since then, the Spanish veteran has appeared over 500 times for the club, remaining the midfield lock at the Nou Camp to this day. But now, he has competition. Non other than Rodri, Man City's new signing. A coincidence? I don't think so.

The fact that Rodri has been compared to Sergio Busquets on numerous occasions has probably sparked Guardiola’s interest in the Atletico Madrid man even more. But, that's not all: Even the stats produced by the two players are quite the similar. Last season, Busquets ended with a pass success rate of 89.7% in La Liga, while Rodri boasted an even higher percentage of 91.1%. Rodri also produced more key passes than Busquets (17 compared to the 15 from Busquets), although, he was slightly behind Barcelona's man in overall passing numbers (1927 completed to Busquets’ 2394).

Clearly, if anyone could fill Busquets role at the Etihad, and specially now that Fernandinho is an old geezer, it sounds like Rodri could be the right man for the job.

1. Rodri, The Missing Piece To Guardiola's Puzzle

Guardiola tried to find a perfect replacement for Fernandinho, who was getting old, he relied on Gündogan to be that defensive man. Didn't work. Then, the Spanish manager tried signing Fred and Jorginho for that role... Thank God he didn't (Let's be real: They're awful!).

But, finally, Rodri was the right man after all (He was the last one in the list, boss!). The Spaniard looks like a midfielder who will fit perfectly into City’s style of play, perhaps even more than he did at his former club. As I mentioned earlier, he completed 91.1% of his passes in Atleti’s midfield last season, building on similar numbers clocked up at previous club Villarreal where his pass accuracy was always over 90%.

Rodri impresses on the defensive side of the ball, winning his fair share of headed duels. Last season he completed more tackles than any other midfielder in La Liga. That's why Rodri is a perfect fit for a manager who strives for perfect football (He's Spanish? Like me? Sign him, sign him!). In one fell swoop, City has improved its roster considerably, and now, has finally secured the defensive midfield position for years to come. Thank God they didn't sign Fred! or Jorginho! ALLELUIA!
