5 F****** Good Reasons To Believe That Atletico Madrid Can Win La Liga

Atletico Madrid have taken Spanish football by storm. The dominant performances of Diego Simeone's side have yielded several trophies already, and there appears to be no sign of that stopping anytime soon.

La Liga was once a two-horse race (Barcelona and Real Madrid, dah!), but things have changed as time has passed. Now, Atletico is a perfect contender to win the acclaimed "LaLiga" title once again, and that's why here you have 5 F***** Good Reasons To Start Believing That Atletico Madrid Can Win La Liga This Season!!!

1. Atletico Always Has Less Pressure

Despite Atletico Madrid having broken up the big two in Spain in recent years, just a few Spanish clubs do seem to have gotten the message. The rest are s***!!!

When Barcelona or Real Madrid face off with Spanish opponents, they will either be greeted by extremely stiff defence or complete apathy. For the most part, opponents tend to step up their game when facing the big two, making every game somewhat dangerous. That has been a "thing" for many years.

But, that isn't the case for Atletico Madrid.

The rest of the clubs in Spain still have a long way to consider "Los Colchoneros" as Spanish giants, and thus, they don't tend to step up their game to the same level as when they face one of the big two. This means that Atletico Madrid play slightly easier matches for the most part.

Week in and week out, Barcelona and Real Madrid are analysed and scrutinised. Any mistake or dropped point will be magnified, while Atletico Madrid are not held to the same standard.

With the big two having a certain level of expectation to live up to, Atletico Madrid are enjoying their time of not having that same burden put on their shoulders. They could realistically win La Liga because not many people expects them to, and that takes out a great deal of pressure.

The pressure will soon catch up to Atletico Madrid as it does with any great team, but for now, they can take advantage of not having those high expectations at this point.

2. Squad Strength & Depth (New Defence, baby!!)

When comparing Barcelona to Real Madrid, it is very easy to mention all of the world-class stars and incredible styles of play. But, we must remember that Atletico Madrid have just as much to offer.

To begin with, Atletico has drastically improved the team with a new super striker, Joao Felix, after the loss of Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona. Diego Costa and Alvaro Morata are also a great danger in attack. On the other side, Koke and Saul remain one of the best midfield pairings in Atletico's history, and their influence cannot be overlooked. The incorporation of free agent Hector Herrera will bring more depth and experience to the side, especially after losing Rodri to Man City.

However, Atletico Madrid's most prized asset is their defensive unit.

The Spanish club boasts what is arguably the best defence on the planet at the moment. I know its team defence is mostly new, after the farewells of captain Godin, Filipe Luis and Juanfran, but still very solid. Gimenez, Felipe, Vrsalijko, Mario Hermoso, Savic, Arias, Lodi, and Kieran Trippier are still good, powerful, and valid option for Simeone to create a top defensive side.

Lastly, keeper Jan Oblak has quickly become one of the best around at his position and continues to gain recognition. Based on this, Atletico Madrid are as deep as they come and are in it for the long haul.

I want to remark that "Los Colchoneros" have taken Barcelona to the wire in recent clashes and have also beaten (very badly) rivals Real Madrid in their last few matches. Will they repeat their success again?

3. Joao Felix; A Star Is Born (Sorry, Bradley)

Newly-recruited wonder kid Joao Felix is at the heart of the optimism at the Wanda Metropolitano following his arrival for £126 million, erasing the pain of Griezmann's exit even before a competitive game was even played.

Moreover, the 19-year-old has dazzled during pre-season, his most impressive outing coming against Juventus and his fellow Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, when he scored one and set up the other in a 2-1 win in Stockholm. Even if he's not a starting line-up man yet for "El Cholo", Felix looks like the next big thing in world football, and, clearly, has what it takes to set La Liga on fire. BRING SOME FIREHOSES!!! FELIX IS SETTING EVERYTHING ON FIRE!!!

4. Atletico Is Not In "A Barcelona, Real Madrid Chaos Status"

While Atletico Madrid are entering a golden age of success, it seems as though both Barcelona and Real Madrid are starting to slip up. This cannot be overlooked.

The big two, though still immensely powerful, don't seem to be quite at the same level as they were a few years ago. Poor performances are more common than they used to be, and at times, Barcelona and Real Madrid have even looked human. While they both continue to struggle with defensive problems and injuries, Atletico Madrid look to be getting stronger by the week. The gap is closing quickly.

Either Barcelona or Real Madrid could still win La Liga, but both have major issues that must be addressed. Barcelona's new tactics are still very problematic, while injuries to Lionel Messi and others have made things difficult lately (Griezmann, we're counting on you!!). On the other side, RealmMadrid are also struggling, especially in defense and attack, but at the same time, they have yet to really find their rhythm this season under a new manager (Zinedine Zidane new? Ha, ha! Funny one!).

All the while, Atletico Madrid continue to steamroll opponents, showing no signs of weakness.

5. The Magic Man: Diego Simeone (Of course we didn't forget about him)

When it all comes down to it, Diego Simeone is clearly the main reason for the success Atletico Madrid has had in recent years. The Argentinian coach knows how to inspire his players, and his expert tactics continue to yield incredible results. "El Cholo" is certainly one of the best managers in the game; Atletico's success would not have come without him, and if they do end up winning La Liga this 2019/20, he will be the reason.

When Simeone took over as manager, the Madrid club was struggling. But, in just a few years, he has turned things around and brought a winning attitude to a club that needed to return to their roots. Every great team needs a great leader, and while Atletico is still setting up with its new players on the pitch, Simeone is the genius and mastermind behind the whole operation.

Predicting which club will win La Liga this season is nearly impossible now (Especially after the disastrous starts of Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively). So stop saying Barcelona and Real Madrid are better: Atletico Madrid are not an outside shot; they are serious contenders, mother f******!!!.
