Be careful Europe, "EuroHazard" is here! That's what someone should have told Arsenal before he went on an absolute tare against the North London side. How to start? 15 minutes.
Fifteen minutes were just enough for Maurizio Sarri to impose his will on city rivals, Arsenal, with total superiority. After an absolute show (from Chelsea's part), Arsenal ended up overwhelmed and giving thanks that the result was not more embarrassing. Pedro, Giroud and Hazard dynamited the Gunner's goal in a quick rush at the final in Baku (4-1).
Clearly, another unfortunate night for the Gunners. The English final of the Europa League will go down in history because of the spectacle and passion displayed in the stands of the Baku Olympic, for the 3,000 Chelsea followers, who after travelling almost 5,000 kilometres got to see their team conquer the Europa League in outstanding fashion, the second in club history, against bitter rivals Arsenal by a convincing 4-1. With that, Arsenal missed their last chance to play in the Champions League next season.
The game started rather different tho, as Arsenal were able to generate danger from the wings with Maitland-Niles, Kolašinac and Lucas Torreira's direct game, completely taking over the game during the first half hour of play. But, the best chance for the Gunners came in the 28th minute, a right-footed whiplash from outside the box by Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka that kissed the crossbar.
This warning spurred Chelsea, however, as Hazard began to associate with Pedro and Giroud at the start of the second half. Although, the "real" surprise factor was Emerson Palmieri. The Brazilian was the assist maker of the first Chelsea goal, after Petr Cech wasn't able to save a low shot by Giroud (49'). Just like that, the world champion became the top scorer of the Europa League, with 11 goals exceeding Luka Jovic's 10.
The debacle was just starting. Arsenal was weakened and Pedro put the second on the scoresheet, after a quality pass from number "10", Hazard (60 '). Still, Chelsea was not satisfied and a ball from Pedro to Giroud ended with the Frenchman being taken down by Maitland-Niles inside the penalty area. Hazard converted the spot kick (65 ') with class, Cech could only watch.
The final seemed doomed when Alex Iwobi, who has just jumped into the field, reduced the lead with a thunderous volley after a David Luiz rejection (69 '). The emotion lasted very little. as Hazard stole the ball, leaned on Giroud as the former rsenal number nine put a perfectly placed pass that the Belgian effortlessly pushed into the net (72 ').
With this win, Eden Hazard can finally say goodbye to Chelsea before signing for Real Madrid, dismissing the season with two goals, one assist and an absolute show to claim the Europa League title.
"I think it's a goodbye but in football you never know," the 28-year-old told BT Sport after Wednesday's match.
Arsenal tried to emulate the comebacks of the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool in the Champions League, but it lacked the success, as Alexandre Lacazette and Joe Willock both squandered opportunities. The 'Gunners' still have not overcome their European flair (they have lost 5 consecutive finals) and are out of the Champions League once again, while Sarri culminates the season with the first title of his career. But, will it help him keep his job at Stamford Bridge?
